July 21, 2009 - Singapore - 3 Days of Storm Warriors Publicity
Ekin arrived in Singapore on a 3 day whirlwind tour to publicize Storm Warriors. It has been 11 years since the first Storm Riders film, finally we have a sequel. The premiere is scheduled for December this year. In Singapore Ekin begins an event to start the 150 days lead up to the movie's release. Everyday will be a countdown until the release. Ekin indicated that he preferred the Storm Riders kind of movies as they were pure fantasy. On the stage Ekin pulled curtains from Storm Warriors swords in the foyer of GV Vivo City. He indicated that he was confident about his role even though it was 11 years later. Ekin's manager said that he had worried whether he could recreate the role. She said that even if things were comparitively weak in Hong Kong, elsewhere things were pretty good. Ekin just filmed Kamui Gaiden in Japan and many fans turned out for him, they still remember his Young and Dangerous role of Chan Ho Nam. They are all very excited about the next film Storm Warriors.
However reporters noted that his girlfriend Yoyo didn't accompany him. Regarding this issue Ekin indicated that he felt hounded to death. If it made the magazines sell then he was indifferent. He had only four words to say, " stable, steady and happy" As far as marriage was concerned Ekin said that currently he was only concerned with his career and charity events. At present he was busy promoting Storm Warriors. He was unlikely to get married this year. In 2006 Ekin parted company with his former girlfriend Gigi Leung. He already recognized that her French boyfriend had proposed marriage. However he is still dating Yoyo Mung, at any time there is a possibility of marriage. However, this year there is not any time, and currently he does not have any marriage plans. Ekin's manager Lam Shan Shan indicated that Ekin didn't like to talk about feelings. She pointed out that Li Ming, Andy Lau and Aaron Kwok are also still not married. She indicated that the more the media tried to make him admit to close to marriage, the more he would not want to tell them where he stands on the issue. When Hong Kong reporters suggested that the 2.8 million home that Ekin bought, was a love nest for himself and Yoyo, he just shook his head and said, "Is not, it is my own home."
He said that marriage this year it was unlikely because he would be very busy. Apart from the Storm Warriors publicity, he is also planning a concert for the end of the year. Reporters asked him if he would keep his long hair for the concert. He revealed he will do 2 or 3 concerts, he didn't rule out the possibility of keeping his shoulder length hair.
Yesterday afternoon, he was at the zoo to see an elephant, it is the only Asian elephant called Gambir and it is 20 years old. Later, he attended a 97.2 broadcast station charity event.. For the Shan You Counselling Centre, he delivered foodstuffs to 5 impoverished families. He also visited some elderly people. He thought some were lonely and miserable, after he felt for them very much. He hoped that society would pay attention to the needs of these people and show them respect and warmth. Ekin seems to be a family orientated person. Reporters asked if he had any organization ideas. Ekin answered that temporarily he hadn't, not sure how to take care of it, and it only resembles some elderly people. When they were young they didn't think society would change like this. I still don't think this way,so I first want to see things more clearly.
Today Ekin appeared at the Lunar Bar. Some excerpts from the movie were also shown including some of the martial arts scenes. Ekin indicated that compared to 10 years ago, the sword play was much more meticulous. Ekin played games with fans , allowing them to win posters and Storm Warriors Calendars.He sang in short mini concert, which included the theme song from Stormriders, Young and Dangerous and Love only You in This Lifetime. Later he also met privately with fans to both sign autographs and chat with them. He promised to return to Singapore to attend the premiere in December. The movie will be co-distributed in Singapore by Scorpio East Pictures, MediaCorp Raintree Pictures and Golden Village Pictures.
